William Patrick McCole was born in Pittsburgh on August 15, 1895, the only child of James McCole and Mary Coyne McCole, of County Sligo, Ireland. His WWI registration dated June 5, 1917 states that he was of medium height, blue eyes and "blondish" hair.
He married Ann Foley on April 28, 1926 in Pittsburgh at Epiphany Roman Catholic Church. They had three children, William Joseph , Ann Maureen and James Michael McCole.
